Due to its location in the heart of the Adriatic, Vir is the optimal starting point for a multitude of excursions and undertakings along the Croatian shore. For nature-lovers, the following destinations are of interest: The national park Paklenica, the Kornates (a conglomeration of over 200 small islands), the waterfalls of Krka and the lakes of the national park Plitvice. For city-trips, we recommend the nearby historic city of kings Nin, which contains the smallest cathedral in the world, and the 3000 year old city Zadar, which also contains a lot of different historic sites, as well as a diverse offer of modern entertainment. Other interesting cities include: Sibenik, Split, Omis and Trogir.
Additionally, on the island of Vir itself, there is also a multitude of different events and concerts, which are part of the yearly big event-program called “summer of Vir). For young people, there are several big beach parties, on the beaches of Vir, Zrce, Pag and Zaton. For sporty types, the shores and waters of Vir, which are full of sealife and interesting plants, provide the perfect circumstances for diving, surfing and sailing. For the especially courageous, there is also the possibility of mountaineering in the national park Paklenice.
